Northolt and District Photographic Society are holding their Sixtieth Anniversary Photographic Exhibition at the Cow Byre Gallery, Ruislip, Middx, from Monday 12th April to Saturday 17th April 2010, open between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Entrance is free.
The exhibition will feature mainly digital prints and the theme will be digital photography and club members will be available to give advice on digital techniques to anyone interested. There will also be some original darkroom prints displayed.
The original 14 members of The Manor House Photographic Society held its first meeting on 13th February 1950 and the annual membership fee was then 2s. 6d. The Club is currently known as Northolt & District Photographic Society and several members that joined in the early fifties are still active members and will be exhibiting at the Cow Byre in Ruislip.
We are a small friendly club that competes in external competitions over the London and Chiltern’s area very competitively. The club meets each Wednesday between September and May and monthly from June until August and during the summer months there is a full programme of visits locally and around London. Meetings are structured with competitons, talks from guest speakers and social evenings but are always informal. We have new digital projection equipment as a result of a grant provided by the Awards For All Lottery Board. The vast majority of members use digital equipment exclusively but we cater equally for those that prefer to shoot on traditional film.
The society currently meets at Northolt Village Community Centre, Ealing Road, Northolt, from 7.45 pm to 10 p.m and new members are welcome to come along to see what we do. There’s no need to make an appointment, just turn up on the night.
We hope to see you at the exhibition.
